Service responsibility map
Identify client and provider controls, delivery locations and shared functions. Record evidence dependencies and the service commitments the programme needs to support.
When a customer asks a Philippine provider for SOC 2, the first question is which service and controls the report should cover. CyberVantage360 helps connect that request with staff workflows, client-owned systems and operating evidence. Build a programme that supervisors can maintain and an independent CPA firm can examine.
A BPO may control recruitment, endpoints and supervision while the client controls the transaction platform. Identify the information handled and decisions made at each step. The proposed system description should make those interfaces clear rather than implying that the provider operates every control.
SOC 2 is a report issued through an independent CPA examination. AICPA's SOC resources distinguish that reporting role from readiness consulting. The engagement should therefore define the service, relevant criteria and evidence expected before the examiner begins testing.
Include the practical events that change risk: staff moving between accounts, temporary work locations, elevated access and changes to customer instructions. Those transitions are useful tests of whether the control design matches the operating model.
For Philippine operations supporting overseas customers, evidence can be distributed between a local supervisor, corporate IT and the customer's administrator. Agree a reliable route to obtain approvals and confirmations. Do not substitute an internal statement for evidence of an action performed elsewhere.
Account-specific instructions should be clear enough for staff and deputies to use. When a process differs between customers, record the difference and the reason. A single generic instruction can conceal conflicting export, access or escalation requirements.
Keep privacy duties separately assessed for the organisation's actual role. The readiness programme can organise relevant controls and records without claiming that SOC 2 replaces Philippine or customer-country legal obligations.
Agree the outputs around the service floor, supporting technology and customer interfaces.

Review access, supervision, information handling and service continuity. Assign gaps to owners and define what completed implementation looks like.
Connect account changes, exception approval and incident escalation with retrievable records. Establish clear handovers across shifts and operating locations.
Prepare a factual description of the service and organise the evidence index. Reconcile inconsistent practices and retain unresolved matters for discussion with the CPA firm.
Walk through a staff reassignment or a temporary delivery change. Ask each owner to show what they approve, what they record and what confirmation they receive. Where the client performs a necessary action, define how the provider can verify completion.
Schedule implementation with account and technology leaders. Clarify the difference between consulting work, operational remediation and CPA examination charges. Build evidence ownership into the handover so the programme survives staff turnover and the next customer onboarding.
Hypothetical examples, not client case studies or claims of completed engagements.
A hypothetical Manila BPO brings experienced staff onto a new support account. The new client uses a different ticketing platform and restricts data downloads. The readiness review checks how those instructions reach staff and how supervisors verify that access matches the new role.
The resulting workflow records training on the actual process, removal of obsolete access and customer confirmation of new permissions. Evidence describes the provider's responsibilities accurately without suggesting it controls the client's application configuration.
A hypothetical Cebu provider plans an alternate team to maintain a service when the normal team is unavailable. The handover changes staff, access and supervision. A written continuity plan alone does not show that the alternative arrangement can meet the service commitments.
The readiness programme tests representative work and captures the necessary approvals, access checks and escalation steps. Management records limitations and actions before describing the alternative team as an operating capability.
CyberVantage360 supports readiness and evidence organisation. The independent licensed CPA firm performs the examination and issues the report. Confirm scope, fees and examination timing separately; a readiness engagement cannot promise an unmodified opinion.
Define the service and retained responsibilities with the CPA firm. Client-owned systems remain relevant dependencies, and the description should explain the boundary accurately.
Common controls can help, but material differences in service commitments, tools and responsibilities must be addressed. Document justified variations and evidence needs.
Agree the intended locations and how controls operate at each. Do not assume evidence from one site establishes operation across all sites.
Record the limitation, identify alternatives and discuss its effect on the proposed examination. Do not fabricate confirmations or claim control over an action you cannot verify.
No automatic legal-compliance conclusion follows. Privacy roles and duties remain a separate assessment, supported where relevant by accurate control evidence.
List services, account boundaries, delivery locations, workforce arrangements, important customer commitments and the requested report deadline. Use sanitised process summaries.
